David Gilmour on the Tonight Show
Ahhh, what a day....
Our friend and neighbor, Beth Sherman, invited us to view the taping of the Tonight Show where she works as a writer. But mostly she told us to come there because David Gilmour was playing that day... AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, we said!
After parking and finding her, she gave us a tour of the studio and we hung out for a bit in her office before she took us to the green room while she went to continue working.
From there we watched the begining of the show (the famous Leno monologue) and Beth's piece which was on the Boston Marathon (Tonight Show thursday 4/20/06).

Green room:

Mike in green room... about 5 feet away from where Richard Wright was sitting... Agghaggahgaggahgaghaga... couldn't very well take a picture of him without looking very stupid though... But you get the idea:

So then someone really nice (the guy who takes care of seating people in the audience) came and took us outside where the band was going to play (it's summer outside series at the Leno show). We took a nice spot off to the side, and Beth came by for a minute not realizing yet how this was such a wonderful amazing stupefying jaw crushing thing for us!
But we were there, we waited:

and then... tadaaaaa... David Gilmour came on stage with not only Richard Wright, but also Graham Nash and David Crosby to do back up vocals on that song from David Gilmour's solo album, on an island:

After doing "on an island", Nash and Crosby left and Gilmour and Wright were left with the rest of the band to do "Wish you were here"... Ahhhh, what a beautiful song, never gets old!
Richard Wright even took a solo!!!!!! Woohoo, go keyboards!
shmeesh! That was sooooo EPIC, thanks Beth!!!! ;-)
After the show:

Beth and I watching something on the stage on our way out:

We had such a good time, we were excited like kids not in a candy shop because that was never our thing, but kids at a Pink Floyd show, peeps!!!!
Can you imagine being but 10 feet away from some of the most legendary people in music history but also a couple of the people that influenced you the most......
When else will that happen to us, and where else!? huh!?
That was just probably the best thing this week... Outside of my parents coming to visit tomorrow for a week and a half, of course! hahaha
Anyway... So to thank Beth we wanted to go to eat sushi because that's our thing with her, our little ritual.
On our way back we stopped really quick at Yamashiro (another great japanese restaurant in the hollywood hills with a spectacular view):

We decided to try another sushi place than our regular one. Beth had been there on a recommendation and told us how exquisite it was. She did not lie! It was extremely good, and such a great closer for a great day:

Real Wasabi:

THANK YOU BETH!!!!!!!!!!!
